Why not come along to our Standout/PA Career Hub on the 5th of September? The day will kick off with two presentations from two employers that will outline what they have to offer you as an employee, and the process of application to join them. After lunch, and some discussion, there will be a job search workshop in which volunteers from PA Consultancy will give 1-1 expert advice and assistance to help realise your career plans.

Sodexo: Kitchen Porter
As Kitchen Porter, you’ll play a key part in supporting the kitchen team by keeping everything clean, organised, and ready for service. It’s a physical role that requires energy, focus, and a can-do attitude, and it’s a great starting point for anyone looking to build a career in hospitality. Previous experience in a professional kitchen is helpful, but not essential. You should have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn; be able to work efficiently in a busy, high-pressure environment; be reliable, punctual, and a strong team player, and have a good level of spoken English and understanding of food safety basics.
📰 Contract: Full-time after 12 weeks

Construction: Welcome back returner programme
Willmott Dixon’s programme offers a 20-week paid placement designed for professionals returning to work after a career break, with the potential for a permanent role. Participants are placed in teams or projects that value their skills and are supported through coaching, training, and a thorough induction process. The programme seeks collaborative individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for delivering quality service. While experience in construction, residential building, or fit-out is ideal, the company also welcomes applicants with transferable skills from other industries who share their values.
📰 Contract: 20 week paid placement with the opportunity to go full time.
📍 Location: London
💰 Pay: Between: £22,000 to £28,000 per year if kept on.
Eligibility: You will need to hold a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification – Level 3 or higher, have plant maintenance/fault finding experience one years driving experience and general computer litaracy.

Greggs: Team Member
As a Team Member, you’ll provide fast and friendly service to customers, make sure the shop is clean and tidy, and prepare products. You will serve customers across a number of different channels; in-shop, delivery, Click + Collect and drive thru. You'll play a key part in making sure customers have a positive experience when shopping - whether they order in store or order their food online. Previous work experience is not essential. As long as you’re willing to learn, you will be given full training.
The position offers competitive pay plus commission, a wide range of benefits such as paid breaks, up to 50% staff discount, profit sharing, pension matching, and wellbeing support, with the opportunity to grow within a supportive and welcoming company culture.

Sodexo: Waste Operative
In this role you will be expected to undertake all required training in relation to all aspects of the Waste Service delivered to the client, as requested. Complete a schedule of waste tasks, as directed by the Waste supervisor / Waste Manager such as the movement of waste from approved waste storage areas to collection areas, correct segregation of waste streams, and operate machinery for the purposes of compacting waste, driving of specified vehicles if appropriate licence and training is given.

Iceland: Retail Assistant / Online Picker
You will be required to fulfil the bagging of orders that are placed online to make ready for delivery. This is a job that can offer you flexibility across a variety of shift patterns, a great rate of pay, and the opportunity to become part of a supportive and connected team. Essential criteria for this role: Work with efficiency, accuracy and pace; take pride in your work; have a positive can-do attitude; must be highly flexible to work unsociable shifts.
Shifts can start between 1am and 6am. Please ensure you are able to start during these hours, before applying.

Education and training
Fine Cell Work apprentice: Open the gate programme
Open the gate is a programme specifically designed for prison leavers to support them back into work. You will work with a dedicated engagement and support officer who offers support tailored to you and you will also work alongside the wider team. You will gain work experience in textiles production, administration and warehousing & dispatch. As well as support in accredited and non-accredited training, creative workshops, CV writing, an employment reference, professional mentoring, support with goal setting & action planning, grant funding towards further training or small-business development, Information and support towards business planning and self-employment and guidance on disclosure and signposting support.
Timings: You will attend the Battersea Hub for 1 or 2 days per week for between 3 and 12 months, depending on your goals. Roles are unpaid but lunch and travel expenses are covered.

Project ReMAKE: Self employment course
A course for people who have left prison that have there own business idea and would like help to move this forwards. Typically there are 12-15 entrepreneurs per course and each person will get the chance to work 1/1 with a business mentor and 2 student advisors to formulate a business idea into a business plan. At the end of the course you will get the chance to present your business idea (Dragons' Den style) to a group of industry professionals who give feedback and help in establishing the business and the course then ends with a graduation ceremony to celebrate everyone’s progress.

Twin group: Training programmes
This programme offers fully funded training courses for individuals aged 19+ who are unemployed, seeking work, or earning under £25,000 annually. The courses are flexible and accessible, catering to people with childcare, part-time jobs, or other commitments, and include self-paced and scheduled options. Available qualifications range from Level 1 to Level 3 in areas such as business, customer service, retail, warehousing, money management and autism awareness. All training is completely free, and in-person visits can be arranged to help explain opportunities to staff or service users.

Liberty’s kitchen- Street Food Training Programme
So you think you can cook? OK. Are you ready to move beyond minimum wage? Are you ready to do what it takes to go to the next level? Liberty’s Kitchen’s Youth Development Program is a twelve-week paid job-training program for youth ages 18-24. Liberty kitchen offer hands-on skill building in food service, career development, leadership, and life skills. Not interested in cooking? No problem. This program is designed to teach you the skills that you can transfer to ANY job!

Notting Hill Carnival
Join Europe's biggest street party and London's most popular carnival, and see the streets of west London come alive with Caribbean colours, music and flavours during Notting Hill Carnival.
Watch dazzling floats and costumed performers wind through the streets during the carnival parade, dance to the rhythms of steel bands and calypso music, and explore the tempting food stalls along the route.
The first Notting Hill Carnival attracted around 500 people. Since then, the carnival has grown to become the largest street in Europe, attracting more than two million revellers. You can usually expect to see around 50,000 performers in the parade, along with more than 30 sound systems.
Dates: 23 August 2025 to 25 August 2025
📍 Location: The carnival takes place on the streets of W10 and W11, covering Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Grove, Westbourne Park and Kensal Road.
