Community Manager

The role

As Community Manager at StandOut you will lead a passionate and dynamic team of community coaches, all working tirelessly to support our participants as they leave the prison gates and begin life in the community.

From managing and supporting community coaches as they work with participants, to working with programmes leadership to set the strategy and direction of the community team, the role is varied, stretching and incredibly rewarding.

This role would be ideal for someone with previous experience managing a team, overseeing and driving a delivery area and a good understanding of the challenges faced by those caught up in the criminal justice system, gained either by working in prison or through a range of work outside prison.

How to apply

To apply for this role, please send a CV and one page covering letter to recruitment@standout.org.uk by the application deadline above. Your covering letter should include:

  • why you would like to work for StandOut

  • why this particular role interests you

Please use the job description and person specification information in this application pack to detail your suitability. CVs without a supporting covering letter will not be considered.

If this opportunity sounds exciting to you but your experience, skills or qualifications don’t match every requirement exactly, we would still encourage you to apply - you may just be the perfect fit.

StandOut is committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment. Applicants will receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity. We welcome and encourage applications from people with experience of the criminal justice system. However, due to the frequency with which the community manager would be expected to support our in-custody delivery, it is important that the successful candidate can secure HMPPS prison vetting clearance. The national guidance on vetting for people with lived experience has recently changed, and if you would appreciate a conversation in confidence about your particular circumstances before applying for the role, we would be happy to accommodate this.

To help ensure that our policy is working well please complete an Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form and submit with your application.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the role or the application process please email us on recruitment@standout.org.uk and we would be delighted to arrange for you to speak with one of the team.

Closing date: 12pm, Thursday 21 May 2026.

Interviews: First round 27-28 May 2026 (please let us know your availability for these dates). Second round to be confirmed, following first round shortlisting.
